Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, British Columbia, at TheCommentary.ca.

A new book, the debut novel of Sarah Louise Butler, The Wild Heavens has just been released. A former seminarian’s lifelong obsession with a large set of tracks, footprints he sees in the woods, is at the heart of the book that looks at the scientific and the supernatural. I’ll get Ms. Butler to tell us more about her book, about the intersection of imagination and fact. I’ll also ask her about the wild, and winter. Sarah Louise Butler’s short fiction has been published in Room magazine. She has a degree in earth sciences and volunteer experience in wildlife research. This is her debut novel and it is published by Douglas & McIntyre. She joined me from Nelson, British Columbia just over a month ago. Please welcome to the Planta: On the Line program, Sarah Louise Butler; Ms. Butler, good morning.
