Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line. This is THECOMMENTARY.CA.

Rod McQueen joins me now. The National Book Award winner, bestselling author and journalist has written a new book BlackBerry: The Inside Story of Research in Motion. With prodigious research and access to RIM’s co-CEO’s Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie, we have a portrait of this Canadian success story, and how its flagship product, the BlackBerry has become one of the most popular technology products in the world. Over 75 million smartphones have been sold worldwide. It’s a useful, indispensible tool. It’s also become at times a status symbol thanks to celebrities being seen with them, and certainly, a symbol of the era. Rod McQueen has written twelve books, and joins me from Toronto this day. His website is www.rodmcqueen.com. The book is published by Key Porter. Incidentally, Balsillie and Lazaridis contribute the foreword. Please welcome to the Planta: On the Line program, Rod McQueen; Good morning, Mr. McQueen.
