Set in the Okanagan Valley, Red Dog, Red Dog unfolds over a week in 1959 and goes back to the 20s and 30s, even the 1880s. Its author, the acclaimed poet and author Patrick Lane joins me now. This is his first novel and it tells the story of the Stark family, a dark and violent group of people whose lives unfold in this book, which has been described as stunning, compelling, and original. Patrick Lane’s memoir, There is a Season won the Lieutenant Governor’s Award and the BC Award for Nonfiction. He’s authored numerous books of poetry and won sundry awards and prizes.
