The Media Relations Officer for IHIT (Integrated Homicide Investigations Team) Sgt. Frank Jang discusses his work, the current spate of gun violence in Metro Vancouver, and more, with Joseph Planta.

Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, British Columbia, at TheCommentary.ca.

His is one of the more conspicuous and recognisable faces in the Metro Vancouver region. We see him unfortunately when there’s bad news, and with the recent spate of gun violence, we see Frank Jang more often than we should. I had the idea of asking Sgt. Jang on the program, because I thought it would be interesting to get some insight into his work, as well as what’s happening in the region. As well, seeing him as regularly as we do, being of Asian descent, I thought it would be useful to get to know someone we see but know too little about. At a time when there is a rise in anti-Asian hatred, who better to talk to than someone who we see all the time, about why he chose a career in law enforcement. Sgt. Frank Jang is the Media Relations Officer for the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team. It is the largest homicide investigation unit in Canada. IHIT serves 29 RCMP communities and 3 municipal police communities from Pemberton to Boston Bar. Sgt. Jang has been with IHIT for nearly nine years, before that he was with the RCMP for eight years. The Twitter handle is @thefrankjang. Please welcome to the Planta: On the Line program, Sgt. Frank Jang; Sgt. Jang, good morning.
