Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, British Columbia, at TheCommentary.ca.

Love: The Last Chapter is the new documentary from the filmmaker Dominique Keller. She joins me now to talk about the feature length film that is having its world premiere as part of the DOXA: Documentary Film Festival. That begins tomorrow, Thursday, 06 May 2021 (and runs until 16 May 2021). In the film, Ms. Keller moves into a seniors facility in Calgary. This is all before COVID. We see three couples navigate love and life, as well as the people around them who might look at older people as a curiosity or novelty. Or worse. There’s a couple that’s been married for decades. Another couple who had met and are about to be married. And then as Dominique says, another couple whose status is complicated. They’re not married, but they want to be with each other. These are not only fascinating people, they’re all characters who happen to be in love. They show the viewer the human need for love at any age. It’s an often-moving film, as well as funny. Dominique Keller is a documentary filmmaker based in Calgary, where she joined me from last week. She has directed documentaries set in Canada, the United States, Kenya, France, Bangladesh, and India. Her projects have been created for sundry networks such as the CBC, PBS, The Food Network, CityTV, APTN, and the National Film Board of Canada, including this film. Visit www.dominiquekeller.com and www.lovethelastchapter.com for more information. The film is available from DOXA starting tomorrow; visit www.doxafestival.ca for tickets. The film is co-produced by Dominique Keller and Karen Pickles at Keller Media, and the NFB’s Northwest Studio. Please welcome to the Planta: On the Line program, Dominique Keller; Ms. Keller, good morning.
