The reporter and author George Garrett talks to Joseph Planta about his experiences over the last six months, living through the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as politics and the media, with Joseph Planta.

Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, British Columbia, at TheCommentary.ca.

George Garrett joins me again. The legendary reporter is kind enough to come on as I start the seventeenth year of the program, to talk about what the last six months of living through the pandemic has been like for him. He remains plugged in and astute as to the politics around us, and literally plugged in, making appearances for various programs and organisations using Zoom for example, from his home in South Surrey, where he joins me from today. We’ll talk about what he’s been doing to keep safe and healthy amidst the coronavirus around us, as well I might get his views on politics at home and abroad. He’s a guy who needs no introduction. Folks in these parts know him for his many years as a reporter at CKNW, as well as his two books, The Life and Times of Lighthouse McNeil: An Adventure in the RCMP, and his bestselling memoir, George Garrett: Intrepid Reporter. He has long been associated with the Volunteer Cancer Drivers association, an organisation he helped found. I’ll ask him about their efforts, and his recent leave taking there. Please welcome back to the Planta: On the Line program, George Garrett; Mr. Garrett, good morning.
