The managing editor of Room magazine Jessica Johns previews North America’s only feminist literary and arts festival Growing Room that begins this year, and runs until 15 March 2020, with Joseph Planta.

Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, British Columbia, at TheCommentary.ca.

North America’s only feminist literary and arts festival, Growing Room begins this week. How it’s championed diversity is lauded, as how the festival has featured established and emerging writers in the country. Joining me now is Jessica Johns. She is the managing editor of Room magazine, and a co-organiser of the Indigenous Brilliance reading series, a collaborative series between Room and Massy Books. The festival runs until 15 March 2020. Visit www.roommagazine.com for more information on the events and the comprehensive and remarkable list of participants. I’ll ask Ms. Johns about the 2020 Festival’s theme of worldbuilding, and how this festival reflects a changing literary scene in Canada. Please welcome to the Planta: On the Line program, Jessica Johns; Ms. Johns, good morning.
