The acclaimed actor and director Hubert Lemire discusses Théâtre la Seizième’s latest production Le NoShow, opening tomorrow and running until 01 March 2020, with Joseph Planta.

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, British Columbia, at TheCommentary.ca.

The Jessie Award-winning company Théâtre la Seizième’s latest production Le NoShow opens tomorrow night and runs until 01 March 2020. The production’s director, and someone who was involved in its original creation, Hubert Lemire joins me now. Le NoShow is a show that defies convention, as well as description. First, audience members will be asked what they are willing to pay as they enter Performance Works on Granville Island. One can pay nothing or more, up to well over a hundred dollars. Right away the audience is compelled to consider what it is they are willing to pay for a ticket to an artistic production. I’ll get Mr. Lemire to tell us the rest. We also talk about working in the arts, a vital theme of this show, as well as the reaction to the show in various productions around the world. I’ll ask him about the discussions he as director has had with the seven Vancouver-based actors who are at the heart of this show that was created in 2013 at the Carrefour international de théâtre in Quebec City. Mr. Lemire has worked in theatre and film for over twenty years. He is a graduate of the Montreal Conservatory of Dramatic Arts. Visit www.seizieme.ca for more information. Please welcome to the Planta: On the Line program, Hubert Lemire; Mr. Lemire, good morning.
