The director Barbara Tomasic discusses the latest Gateway Theatre production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (12-31 December 2019), with Joseph Planta.

Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, British Columbia, at TheCommentary.ca.

A great thing to do over the holidays is to check out the latest at the Gateway Theatre. Their latest production, starting tomorrow night in previews is Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Barbara Tomasic is the production’s director. She joins me now to preview the show, and talk about the musical, that for a lot of us was the first theatrical experience one had as an audience member. For me it was the touring production starring Donny Osmond in the early 1990s. I’ll ask Barbara about the show, the themes therein, dreaming, the cast, and the music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. Barbara Tomasic is a graduate of the University of British Columbia. Her directing credits include the Music Man, Crazy for You, and The Wizard of Oz, all at the Gateway. She’s also directed productions of Mamma Mia!, Footloose, Grease, Girl in the Goldfish Bowl, and Little One. The website for tickets is at www.gatewaytheatre.com. Please welcome to the Planta: On the Line program, Barbara Tomasic; Ms. Tomasic, good morning.
