The podcaster Nick Thornton discusses a{void}dance, his new podcast, its evolution from People Doing Things, music, connection, loneliness, recovery, and more, with Joseph Planta.

Text of the introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, British Columbia, at TheCommentary.ca.

Nick Thornton joins me again. The podcaster, historian and educator is the host of a{void}dance, which is an evolution of his People Doing Things podcast that began in 2014. Nick was gracious to have me on as a guest last fall, and it was a lot more enjoyable than I expected, as I didn’t think I would be a good guest. Nick is a marvelous conversationalist, and this new show combines his talent for speaking to the listener, and a taste in music that is uniquely his. His tastes are varied and it’s fascinating to listen to. I keep the show on while I’m working on other things at my desk, then turn it up, if he has something to say between songs. The website is at www.pdtpod.com. Nick Thornton is also the co-host, with Andrew Bates, of That’s So MLS, a podcast on soccer. His Twitter handle is @thorntonosity. Please welcome back to the Planta: On the Line program, Nick Thornton; Mr. Thornton, good morning.
