Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, British Columbia, at TheCommentary.ca.

A new novel takes us to a street that’s specific, but also universal. Marina Reed’s new novel Primrose Street features neighbours as they interact with one another, as well as the subtext of what’s not said, as it turns out they don’t know much of each other. We see long-time residents, newcomers, and recognisable men and women, neighbours we know and want to know, as well as those that surprise. I’ll get Ms. Reed, who joins me now, to tell us what happens on this street where they live, and what’s beyond their homes walls, their minds and their hearts. And we’ll talk about the various themes in the book that her characters contend with: community, homophobia, domestic abuse, toxic masculinity, redemption, and more. Marina L. Reed grew up in rural Ontario. She worked as a researcher and writer for CBC Television. She has performed in theatre and film, and has taught liberal and visual arts and drama in public schools. Her degrees were had at the University of Windsor, the University of Western Ontario, and the University of Toronto. Her website is at www.marinalreed.com. This new book is published by Blue Moon. Please welcome to the Planta: On the Line program, in Toronto, Marina Reed; Ms. Reed, good morning.
