Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, at TheCommentary.ca.

Delphine wants a new kitchen. She accidentally orders one online and unfortunately this all upends her relationship with her husband Hugo. Then her brother Paul arrives and it’s all rather tumultuous on the prairies. Those are just a few things that happen in Barbara Langhorst’s new novel Want. It is her debut novel, and she joins me to discuss it, how it’s relatable to a lot of people, and how it speaks to our time. Born and educated in Edmonton, Barbara Langhorst teaches writing and literature at St. Peter’s College in Muenster, Saskatchewan. Her first book 2012’s Restless White Fields won awards in Alberta and Saskatchewan. This new book is published by Palimpsest Press. Visit www.barbaralanghorst.com for more. She joined me from Humboldt, Saskatchewan. Please welcome to the Planta: On the Line program, Barbara Langhorst; Ms. Langhorst, good morning.
