Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, at TheCommentary.ca.

One of the more fascinating books I’ve seen this season is Adventures in Memory: The Science and Secrets of Remembering and Forgetting. It looks at how memory works, how we remember, and how we forget. It also illuminates the basic premise of what memory is. It is written by two Norwegian sisters, Hilde Østby, a writer and editor, and Ylva Østby, a clinical neuropsychologist, who is the vice president of the Norwegian Neuropsychological Society. They’re both from Oslo, Norway, but spoke to me about eight weeks ago while they were both in Pittsburgh. This book is published by Greystone Books. Please welcome to the Planta: On the Line program, Hilde Østby, and Ylva Østby; good morning.
