The award-winning playwright and author Aaron Bushkowsky discusses his new play Red Birds, having its world premiere (02-18 November 2018) at the PAL Studio Theatre, a co-production of Western Gold Theatre and Solo Collective Theatre, his writing and more, with Joseph Planta.

The playwright Aaron Bushkowsky joins me now. His play Red Birds has its world premiere starting 02 November (and running until 18 November 2018) at the PAL Studio Theatre, 581 Cardero Street here in town. It is a bittersweet comedy about three generations of women whose lives are thrown into chaos when a birth mother is revealed. I’ll get Mr. Bushkowsky to tell us about his play and this new production. Red Birds is a sister piece to his popular The Big Blue Bird, which was given a workshop reading by Western Gold more than 12 years ago. Aaron Bushkowsky writes poetry, drama, film, television and prose. He was nominated for the Dorothy Livesay Poetry Prize for his 1995 book ed and mabel go to the moon. His 2014 book Curtains for Roy was nominated for the Leacock Medal for Humour. Nine of his plays have been nominated for the Jessie Richardson Award for Outstanding Original Script. He teaches creative writing at Studio 58, Kwantlen University, and the Vancouver Film School. He is co-artistic director of Solo Collective Theatre.
