The artistic director of Ruby Slippers Theatre, celebrating its 30th season, Diane Brown discusses the new production of Michel Tremblay’s Les Belles-soeurs, beginning 27 September and running until 06 October 2018 at Richmond’s Gateway Theatre; she discusses the themes of the show, the cast, and more, with Joseph Planta.

Diane Brown joins me again. The latest Ruby Slippers Theatre production of Michel Tremblay’s Les Belles-soeurs, which opens the 2018-2019 season of the Gateway Theatre. I’ll get Ms. Brown to tell us about the play, what Tremblay’s work is like, as well the cast which features Patti Allan, Daria Banu, Eileen Barrett, Lucia Frangione, Emile Leclerc, Pippa Mackie, Melissa Oei, France Perras, Sarah May Redmond, Sarah Rodgers, Kerry Sandomirsky, Ariel Slack, Agnes Tong, Tallulah Winkelman, and Beatrice Zeilinger. The show takes places in 1960s Montreal, which yields a fascinating setting, especially since Quebec is changing a great deal in this period. Diane Brown is an award-winning director and actor.
