Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, at TheCommentary.ca.

It’s the number one bestseller in British Columbia today, and has even sold well across the country, placing in the Globe and Mail’s bestseller list. A Matter of Confidence: The Inside Story of the Political Battle for BC is the compelling record of what happened in recent political history with the rise and fall of Christy Clark and the BC Liberals, and after 16 years, the return of an NDP government headed by John Horgan. The authors of the book join me now, two reporters who have been at the fore, Rob Shaw of the Vancouver Sun, who’s covered the legislature for ten years now, and Richard Zussman of Global BC, who has covered the political scene since 2014, initially for the CBC. It’s a gripping book that takes the reader behind the scenes, whether it’s the caucus rooms of the NDP and Liberal parties, at Government House, when the Lieutenant Governor had to make a critical decision after the fall of the Clark government weeks after the 2017 election last spring. You get a sense too of the personalities involved, what it’s like covering the provincial capital, and the issues that concern British Columbians, whether here in Metro Vancouver, or in the interior and north. And of course, the reader marvels yet again at the complexities and uniqueness of politics out here in British Columbia. The book is published by Heritage House. Please welcome to the Planta: On the Line program, in person this morning, Rob Shaw and Richard Zussman; Mr. Zussman, good morning. And Mr. Shaw, good morning.
