Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:
I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, at TheCommentary.ca.
Mike Spencer Bown joins me now. He is The World’s Most Travelled Men, which is the title of his new book. It looks at the twenty-three years he’s spent travelling the world and seeing every country. He’s not travelling for social media. In fact he started before the advent of social media. He’s not merely counting countries, but as he’s visiting them he’s immersing himself in them. He’s living and eating amongst the people, and along the way he’s been arrested and visited some terribly dangerous places. I’ll get him to tell us about some of the 196 countries he’s visited and more. The book is called The World’s Most Travelled Man: A Twenty-Three Year Odyssey to and Through Every Country on the Planet. It’s published by Douglas & McIntyre. No single place is home to Mike, though he was born in Alberta, and he joins me from Canmore today. Please welcome to the Planta: On the Line program, Mike Spencer Bown; Mr. Bown, good morning.
