Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:
I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, at TheCommentary.ca.
Michael Kwan joins me again. The freelance writer, author and blogger has a new book out Beyond the Baby Babble: Surviving Life as a Work-at-Home Dad. It’s a look at his experiences as a father, working from home, raising a daughter, and from the anecdotes he provides, he offers the reader, or would-be parents some useful advice. I’ve always thought the best advice is to take everybody’s advice and see what it works from experience. Mike examines the role of fatherhood and how that’s changed in his personal experience from being a son to now being a father. He battles the stereotypes and misconceptions that society has about gender roles, especially since he’s a work-at-home dad raising a daughter. I’ve known Michael for twenty-two years. We didn’t grow up together, because we met in high school in grade eight, so really we’ve grown older together. I’ve seen my friend grow into a husband and a dad, and if you read this book you get a good sense of who this guy is and just what kind of father he is. www.michaelkwan.com is the website for more. The Twitter handle is @michaelkwan. His previous books are Beyond the Margins, and Make Money Online. Please welcome back to the Planta: On the Line program, Michael Kwan; Mr. Kwan, good morning.
