Elaine Carol
The artist and artistic director and co-founder of Miscellaneous Productions Elaine Carol discusses their 2017 production, Monsters which will run at the Scotiabank Dance Centre, 06 & 07 October 2017, with Joseph Planta.
Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:
I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, at TheCommentary.ca.
Elaine Carol joins me now. She is the director of the 2017 Miscellaneous Productions presentation of Monsters. For over 17 years, Miscellaneous has been working with youth in the city to create a production that allows culturally and socially at-risk youth to create art for social change and personal transformation. I’ll get Ms. Carol, who is one of the founders of this organisation, and who will be directing this production to tell us about the work they’ve been doing, the benefits for the youth, the multiple disciplines they’re employing, and the upcoming tour overseas following the production’s performances, 06, 07 October 2017 at the Scotiabank Dance Centre. Visit www.miscellaneousproductions.ca for information on tickets. I’ll get Elaine to tell us about the themes explored in Monsters. Some are awfully timely, as the cast explores monsters found through storytelling, as well as the performers, and their personal experiences with bullying. Elaine Carol is the artistic director and co-founder of Miscellaneous Productions. She is an artist, writer, and solo performance artist, with over forty years of experience. Please welcome to the Planta: On the Line program, Elaine Carol; Ms. Carol, good morning.
