Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:
I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, at TheCommentary.ca.
Mike Dover joins me now. The professor and author has written a new book, Dante’s Infinite Monkeys: Technology Meets the 7 Deadly Sins. In the book he looks at how the internet and technology have allowed wrath, lust, gluttony, sloth, pride, envy and greed to permeate our lives a little bit more, and for some people, more so. We all think the internet is a good thing, advancing our technology, but it can also make us susceptible to harm. I’ll get Mr. Dover to go through the seven sins and their place in our lives. Mike Dover is the co-author of Wikibrands, and led the research that formed the basis of Wikinomics. He is a professor of marketing at Humber College in Toronto, and is managing partner of Socialstruct Advisory Group. This new book is published by Humber Press. The website for more is at www.dantesmonkeys.ca. Please welcome to the Planta: On the Line program, Mike Dover; Professor Dover, good morning.
