Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, at TheCommentary.ca.

Holy Crap is a cereal that you’re seeing everywhere. A lot of people swear by it, and a new book looks at the phenomenal business done by Corin and Brian Mullins and their company HapiFoods. They started with just $129 in 2009, and less than a decade later they’re shipping millions of bags of cereal around the world. Corin Mullins joins me now, and I’ll ask her about Brian’s allergies that precipitated her formulating a breakfast he could have that was healthy, has protein, rich in the good fatty acids like omega-3’s, antioxidants, fibre, and minerals. They thought they could make a little retirement money by selling it locally, but an appearance on CBC’s Dragon’s Den gained much attention, and turned their operation on the Sunshine Coast into a bestseller consumed across the country, throughout the world, and beyond, as astronaut Chris Hadfield brought some Holy Crap into space. Corin Mullins with Claudia Howard has written a new book, The Holy Crap Cookbook: Sixty Wonderfully Healthy, Marvellously Delicious and Fantastically Easy Gluten-Free Recipes. One uses the HapiFoods cereals and other healthy ingredients, and can craft meals for all day, smoothies and desserts, that are super foods and flavourful. Corin Mullins is the CEO and co-founder of HapiFoods Group Inc. She created Holy Crap Cereal, and has been named an EY Entrepreneurial Winning Woman in 2013, and a top female entrepreneur, one of 14 in Canada by PROFIT/Chatelaine. www.holycrap.com is the website. The book is published by Douglas & McIntyre. Please welcome to the Planta: On the Line program from Sechelt, BC, Corin Mullins; Ms. Mullins, good morning.
