The artist David Wilson discusses his new exhibition, Absence (at the Kimoto Gallery, his work as an artist, and more, with Joseph Planta.

Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, at TheCommentary.ca.

David Wilson joins me again. The acclaimed artist has a new exhibition at Vancouver’s Kimoto Gallery that’s just opened and will be on until 08 October 2016. Absence features new works that evoke the angst of our times, the search meaning, introspection, and the realisation that the comfort and protection of those he loves are limited. I’ll get David to tell us more about what Absence means, what these works represent in the life of the artist, and we’ll continue the conversation we started a year or so ago about what this city, Vancouver, his home for nearly 25 years, represents in his work, and just how he’s evolved as an artist in this town. David Wilson studied at Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, yet still considers himself a self-taught painter. His website is at www.davidwilson.ca, and the Kimoto Gallery’s site is at www.kimotogallery.com. This Saturday, 17 September 2016, David will be giving at artists talk at 1.00pm. The Kimoto Gallery is located at 1525 West 6th Avenue in Vancouver. Please welcome back to the Planta: On the Line program, in person today, David Wilson; Mr. Wilson, good morning.
