The writer MCM (Michael Milligan) discusses working in television, writing fiction, creating programming for a younger audience, and more, with Joseph Planta.

Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, at TheCommentary.ca.

We meet someone now whose work as a screenwriter, author and programmer has yielded many fascinating and innovative works in a relatively young career. MCM is what he goes by, his pen name. Michael Milligan is the man himself. He’s a native of Ottawa, who spent some time living in Victoria. To date he has created an award-winning animated series, RollBots, which has aired around the world and on YTV in this country. He’s done remarkable experimental fiction projects like live written novels, Typhoon, The New Real, and the Archivists. He writes for other children’s series including Disney Jr’s Justin Time, Sprout’s Terrific Trucks, and TVO’s Shutterbugs. We’ll discuss his work thus far, and future projects. As our habits change when it comes to consuming and enjoying culture, the stuff we watch, read, listen to, it’ll be interesting to talk to someone at the fore of the world entertainment and technology. The website is at www.mcm.1889.ca. Please welcome to the Planta: On the Line program, in Ottawa today, MCM; Mr. Milligan, good morning.
