Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:
I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, at TheCommentary.ca.
Hudson Mack joins me now. 30 years ago, in 1985, he moved to Victoria, after some time spent in Kamloops and Prince George, and began work on CHEK Television in Victoria. He’s been the face of television news on Vancouver Island, and now he’s written a book about it. He also writes about his growing up in Calgary, and Salmon Arm, and the years at the anchor desk at CHEK, then going over to The New VI, its transition to A-Channel, to becoming CTV Vancouver Island. He talks about his abrupt resignation last year. It’s a storied career we’ve watched even from this side of the water. The book is called Hudson Mack: Unsinkable Anchor. He joins me now to talk about it, his career in journalism, and more. He has won many awards for his work in television, as well as his community service. He lives in Victoria, BC, where he joins me from here in Vancouver today. He is on the faculty of Royal Roads University. You can follow him on Twitter. @HudsonHMack is the handle. The book is from Harbour Publishing. Please welcome to the Planta: On the Line program, Hudson Mack; Mr. Mack, good morning.
