The life of the artist, Norval Morrisseau is the subject of a new book: Norval Morrisseau: Man Changing into Thunderbird. The book’s author Armand Garnet Ruffo joins me now. I’ll get him to tell us about this book, the life of Morrisseau, who is considered one of Canada’s greatest artists. It’s a remarkable outlay of art created by Morrisseau, who was born in 1932, and who died in 1997. There are some iconic images created in the life of this artist, who amidst success also suffered from alcoholism and poverty. Armand Ruffo is the author of three books of poetry, and he’s edited numerous other works. He is an associate professor in the English language and literature department at Queen’s University.
