Eva Stachniak joins me now. The internationally acclaimed bestselling author has a new book out, Empress of the Night, a follow up to The Winter Palace. I’ll ask Ms. Stachniak about this book, where Catherine the Great is when this book opens, her loves and the Russia she commands, the character of Varvara and what she illuminates; as well as the reaction to these books. Eva Stachniak was born in Poland, but came to Canada in 1981. She worked for Radio Canada International, and Sheridan College. Her other two books are Necessary Lies, and Garden of Venus.
