Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

Stephen Clarkson is a professor of political science at the University of Toronto, who with his wife Christina McCall, co-wrote the acclaimed two-volume biography of Pierre Trudeau, Trudeau and Our Times. He’s also the author of Canada and the Reagan Challenge, and Uncle Sam and Us. His recent book is The Big Red Machine: How the Liberal Party Dominates Canadian Politics, $24.95, published by UBC Press.

We’ll talk about the book, which is an eminently readable and thorough look at the Liberal Party’s electoral campaigns from 1974 to 2004; as well as ask about the current campaign and how this Liberal Party has fared thus far a week and change before election day.

Please welcome to THECOMMENTARY.CA, Dr. Stephen Clarkson; Good morning, Professor Clarkson.
