Andrew Williamson

Andrew Williamson, the executive producer of the documentary series, Emergency Room: Life and Death at VGH, discusses the new Knowledge Network production, airing Tuesdays at 9pm, and more, with Joseph Planta.

Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, at TheCommentary.ca.

The Knowledge Network has a new six-part documentary, the first of which aired last Tuesday, and which will follow for the next five more Tuesdays at 9pm. It’s called Emergency Room: Life and Death at VGH. Filmed at the busiest emergency department in British Columbia, Vancouver General Hospital, the program takes us behind the curtain, if you will as the doctors, nurses and staff at the only Level 1 trauma centre in the province treat, and sometimes save the people that go through the ward. Joining me now is Andrew Williamson. He’s the executive producer of the program. I’ll ask him what’s to be expected over the remaining five weeks, as well as how the program came together. Vancouver Coastal Health, the health authority, provided unprecedented access for Mr. Williamson and his Lark Productions to chronicle the graphic goings-on at 10th Avenue and Laurel. There’s an interactive website at www.knowledge.ca/er [1] where you can watch the episodes. Please welcome to the Planta: On the Line program, Andrew Williamson; Mr. Williamson, good morning.
