A new book is out now called Empty Hands, Open Arms: The Race to Save Bonobos in the Congo and Make Conservation Go Viral. Its author Deni Béchard joins me now to talk about his observations having travelled to the Congo, seeing bonobos up close, and how conservation efforts are going. Deni Béchard has written two previous books, Vandal Love, a novel that won the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize, and Cures for Hunger, a memoir. He’s written for a number of publications.
