Ann Marie Fleming

The filmmaker Ann Marie Fleming discusses her short film, Big Trees, which debuts at the Vancouver International Film Festival, and which looks at real estate in Vancouver in a unique, humorous and musical way, with Joseph Planta.

Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, at TheCommentary.ca.

The filmmaker Ann Marie Fleming joins me now. Her newest short film, Big Trees debuts at the Vancouver International Film Festival this Wednesday, 02 October 2013 as part of the shorts program Performance/Anxiety. That’s 9pm on Wednesday at the SFU Woodwards. There’s a second screening, Wednesday, 09 October at 12.15pm at the Vancity Theatre. For tickets and more information visit www.viff.org [1]. I’ll ask Ms. Fleming about her film. It’s a look at real estate in Vancouver and trees that seemingly stand in the way, told in a really entertaining hybrid of live action, animation, and music. Ann Marie Fleming is an award winning Canadian filmmaker, writer and artist. Her 2010 animated short film, I Was a Child of Holocaust Survivors was a critical hit. Visit her website at www.sleepydogfilms.com [2] for more information. Please welcome to the Planta: On the Line program, Ann Marie Fleming; Ms. Fleming, good morning.
