I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, at TheCommentary.ca.

This Friday, Saturday and Sunday, there’ll be a unique culinary event called Yin Yeung Express [1]. Each of these nights will feature a meal, four courses and stories and entertainment from the four participants: storytellers, writers, musicians. It’ll all be served up Hong Kong style, in a pop-up, open air setting. In Hong Kong these eateries are called ‘dai pai dong.’ The Friday night will be curated by Ricepaper Magazine, Saturday’s by Rain City Chronicles, and Sunday’s by the writer Kevin Chong. He joins me now to talk about his event, which I’ve just learned is already sold out. But it sounds fascinating and if you’ve got a ticket you’ll find out what Mr. Chong has in store, or you may want to check out the Friday and Saturday events. You have all manner of creative folk participating: poets, writers, novelists, comedians, and their stories revolve around the memories and nostalgia of Chinese food, especially the Hong Kong style café kind.
