Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver at TheCommentary.ca.

Adrian Raeside joins me again. The author and illustrator has published over a dozen books, including the still-bestselling No Sailing Waits and Other Ferry Tales, which he was on with just under a year ago. He’s got a new book out: Tails Don’t Lie: A Decade of Dog Cartoons (70 in Dog Years). It’s a wonderful collection of dog cartoons from his internationally syndicated strip, The Other Coast, which appears in hundreds of newspapers. This book shows Mr. Raeside’s wonderful love of dogs, it’s something dog lovers will understand: the idiosyncrasies of dogs, their reaction to their masters, and the funny and sometimes human traits they have. I’ve never had a dog, but I delighted in their depictions by Raeside over the years. We also understand humans a little bit more. I’ll ask Mr. Raeside why that is, that every dog seems to have something philosophical about them. I’ll also ask him, why they are man’s best friend. This terrific new book is out now from Harbour Publishing. It’s so fun to get lost in it for a few hours, to laugh out loud and wipe the occasional wet eye. www.raesidecartoon.com [2] is the website for more. Cartoons are posted there daily. Please welcome back to the Planta: On the Line program, in Whistler, BC, Adrian Raeside; Mr. Raeside, good morning.
