Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver at TheCommentary.ca.

Last week, I talked to the Globe and Mail’s John Ibbitson [2] about the new book he’s co-written, The Big Shift: The Seismic Change in Canadian Politics, Business, and Culture and What it Means for Our Future. His co-author Darrell Bricker joins me now. We’ll continue talking about this book, that’s got a lot of people talking in the week or so that it’s been out. It’s already cracked the bestseller lists in this country, and why shouldn’t it? Darrell and John have done a terrific job in highlighting where Canada is today. They provide thoughtful analysis about who Canadians are, who they’re voting for, how they feel, and how this country looks now and into the future. They have data and statistics that back up their narrative. Darrell Bricker is the CEO of Ipsos Global Public Affairs. He’s been with Ipsos-Reid since 1990. He’s got a PhD in political science from Carleton, and has written (with Ed Greenspon) Searching for Certainty, and Canuckology (with John Wright). The book is published by HarperCollins. Please welcome to the Planta: On the Line program in Toronto today, Darrell Bricker; Dr. Bricker, good morning.
