Jaime Weinman

Jaime Weinman, an entertainment writer and associate editor at Maclean’s, discusses last night’s Academy Awards telecast, the musical numbers, host Seth MacFarlane, and more, with Joseph Planta.

Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver at TheCommentary.ca.

Last night, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences handed out awards in Hollywood. Oscars were handed out in 24 categories, and the broadcast was hosted by Seth MacFarlane. Joining me now to look back at the show, the winners, and more is Jaime Weinman. He is an entertainment writer and associate editor at Maclean’s. He also writes the TV Guidance [1] blog on the Maclean’s website. He’s a favourite of mine, because he’s a terrific critic, a thoughtful one and fount of knowledge about film, show business and musicals, which is apt as last night’s Oscarcast was replete with music, musical performances and tributes to such monumental achievements as the 10th anniversary of Chicago winning best picture, which it so happens was produced by the team of Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, who it so happens produced The 85th Annual Academy Awards. Please welcome back to the Planta: On the Line, Jaime Weinman; Mr. Weinman, good morning.
