Mark Bourrie joins me now. The journalist has a new book out, Fighting Words: Canada’s Best War Reporting. It is an excellent collection of some terrific journalism created by or about Canadians at war. We’ll discuss how this book came about, the kind of pieces we’ll find therein, and those correspondents who’ve contributed much to the chronicling of our history, but who’ve also shaped a bit of our identity in the process. Mark Bourrie received a Ph.D in history at the University of Ottawa. This is his tenth book; his last book, The Fog of War: Censorship of Canada’s Media in World War II was a bestseller.
