I am Planta: On the Line. This is THECOMMENTARY.CA.
The book is already on the bestseller list, and it’s just received a nomination for the Governor General’s Prize. It’s called Galore, a novel from Michael Crummey. It has been described as epic, an endearing romp, intimate, stark and fantastical. The book provides an intricate family saga and love story spanning two centuries, set in Newfoundland, where the author is from. Michael Crummey joins me now. He is a poet and author, whose previous novel River Thieves was a finalist for the Giller Prize. Another novel, The Wreckage was a finalist for the Writers’s Trust Fiction Prize. Galore is published by Doubleday. He lives in St. John’s, but joins me from Galiano Island this day. Please welcome to the Planta: On the Line program, Michael Crummey; Good morning, Mr. Crummey.
