Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line. This is THECOMMENTARY.CA.

Jane Christmas joins me again. The author and journalist was on last year for her previous book, What the Psychic Told the Pilgrim, a great book on hiking in Spain with a bunch of middle aged women. She’s back with a new book that’s already received some good notices: Incontinent on the Continent: My Mother, Her Walker, and Our Grand Tour of Italy. It seems that mother and daughter had rarely seen eye to eye on various issues. To fulfill her dying father’s wish, Jane decides to patch things up by going on vacation together. In 2007, for six weeks in Italy, Jane and Valeria see Italy, see each other, and see their past and present come together. Like the last book, this one’s delightful; it’s sometimes raw, but often funny. The website for more is www.janechristmas.ca [2]. Incontinent on the Continent is published by Greystone. I’m pleased to welcome back to the Planta: On the Line program, in Hamilton this day, Jane Christmas; Good morning, Ms. Christmas.
