Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line. This is THECOMMENTARY.CA.

I’m very pleased that William Deverell joins me now. I’ve been listening to him on other programs like Rafe Mair’s for years. He’s had a storied career. He’s a former journalist. He was a lawyer, and acted as counsel in over a thousand criminal cases. He created the long-running television series Street Legal. He was one of the founders of the BC Civil Liberties Association. And now, he’s out with his 14th novel. It’s called Snow Job. Arthur Beauchamp, Q.C. returns, and finds himself in Ottawa, as his wife has just been elected the Green Party’s first MP. The retired lawyer hates it, and while holed up in their condo in the nation’s capital, he overhears an international plot. Later a Central Asian country declares war on Canada. The book has been described as the most searing and hilarious send-up of the shenanigans that pass for politics in Ottawa. Snow Job is published by McClelland and Stewart.
