Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:
I am Planta: On the Line. This is THECOMMENTARY.CA.
My next guest, Robert Kull, has wandered this hemisphere for years. He's also worked at a number of jobs from scuba instructor to construction worker; dishwasher to professor. He's the author of a new book, Solitude: Seeking Wisdom in Extremes-A Year Alone in the Patagonia Wilderness. Published by New World Library, the book retails for $26.50 and contains a diary of Kull's tumultuous year in the southern most part of South America. It gives us a sense of what it was like to be alone, to find oneself isolation and at the same time enlightened. And not just about technology and nature, but ourselves and society. It's a fascinating story, and certainly a fascinating man. Bob Kull received a doctorate for his work. www.bobkull.org is his website. Please welcome to the Planta: On the Line program, Bob Kull; Good morning, Dr. Kull.
