Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:
I am Planta: On the Line. This is THECOMMENTARY.CA.
That Sophie Milman is on her way to becoming an international music star is without question. Barely 24, the Canadian jazz vocalist has reached number 1 on iTunes Canada, France, Japan, and the United States twice. She's also sold 100,000 albums worldwide, and been on the Billboard Top 5 in Canada, and the Top 15 in the United States. Add to that maintaining a rigorous touring schedule throughout the United States and Canada, she's pursuing commerce studies at the University of Toronto. She joins me this morning to talk about her second album, Make Someone Happy, which was released earlier this year, and the Canadian tour that she's embarking on beginning December 1st. She hits London, Peterborough, Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary, and Victoria. Her Vancouver date is 13 December at the Centre for the Performing Arts, with special guest, the pianist Michael Kaeshammer. Check out her website, http://www.sophiemilman.com/ for more information. I am pleased to welcome to the Planta: On the Line program, Sophie Milman; Good morning, Miss Milman.
