Long John Baldry is considered by many as the driving force of the British blues explosion of the 1960s. Scores of musicians from the Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Rod Stewart and Elton John have been influenced by Baldry, with Stewart and John having credited Baldry for helping launch their careers. Baldry, who died in Vancouver in 1995, is the subject of a new book-It Ain't Easy: Long John Baldry and the Birth of the British Blues. The book's author Paul Myers, himself an accomplished musician and songwriter joins me now. He is a journalist and broadcaster who previously wrote Barenaked Ladies: Public Stunts, Private Stories, and who used to live here in Vancouver, but now lives in Berkley.
