In 1990, Brian O'Dea was arrested after a massive DEA investigation, and subsequently spent ten years in prison for importing marijuana into the United States. He joins me this morning to talk about a new book he's written, High: Confessions of a Pot Smuggler. It retails for $34.95 and is published by Random House. It is the story of his life, from a childhood in Newfoundland that included sexual abuse by priests, to selling drugs for money, excitement and escape, to recovering from cocaine addiction, to hard time at Terminal Island in the Los Angeles Harbour, it is an interesting life, and needless to say a compelling book. Brian O'Dea is now a film and television producer in Toronto, and regularly speaks about his experiences to young people struggling with addictions.
