The award-winning writer and performer Ivan Coyote discusses what the last few months have been like living in a world of COVID, writing and performing, as well as the four events they have curated for the Vancouver Writers Fest (19-25 October 2020), with Joseph Planta.

Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, British Columbia, at TheCommentary.ca.

Ivan Coyote joins me again. The storyteller and author, and now the Alice Munro Chair in Creativity at Western University in London, Ontario, is also a guest curator at this year’s Vancouver Writers Fest. I’ll ask Ivan about their role in curating four events, as well I’ll check in with them about what these past few months have been like because of COVID. As you’ll hear in this conversation from this past weekend, I laughed and cried and cried laughing. Ivan is also a marvelous author, and award-winning one at that, most recently the inaugural recipient of the Jim Deva Prize for Writing That Provokes from the recent BC and Yukon Book Prizes for their recent book Rebent Sinner. Visit ivancoyote.com for more information on Ivan’s distinguished career as a writer and performer. And visit www.writersfest.bc.ca for information on the over forty events of the Vancouver Writers Fest that begins Monday, 19 October 2020 and that runs until Sunday, 25 October 2020. Please welcome back to the Planta: On the Line program, Ivan Coyote; Ivan, good morning.
