The pollster, president of Research Co. and commentator Mario Canseco discusses his work, polling, the proportional representation referendum, the recent municipal elections, American midterm elections, and other current political affairs, with Joseph Planta.

Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, British Columbia, at TheCommentary.ca.

Mario Canseco joins me now. The pollster is here to discuss his polls, his work, and his ubiquity in the media here, and how he’s been able to gather the pulse of people in this province and beyond. We’ll touch on a number of issues including the current referendum on electoral reform, the recent municipal elections, the recent midterm elections in the United States, as well as other social issues top of mind in and around Vancouver. Ride sharing seems to be something that a lot of people are talking about; what else are we thinking about. And just how does Mr. Canseco go about his work with accuracy. Polls are often not highly regarded, so what does someone like Mario do to make sure he’s got an accurate gauge of society at a given time. Mario Canseco is president of Research Co. and he contributes for publications like Business in Vancouver and the Vancouver Sun, among other outlets. He is a regular fixture in the media, notable on air with CTV Vancouver during their election night coverage on October 20th. He was previously with Insights West, and Angus Reid Strategies. He was also an editorial researcher for Peter C. Newman on two of his books, The Secret Mulroney Tapes, and Here Be Dragons. The website for more is at www.researchco.ca, and the Twitter handle is @mario_canseco. Please welcome to the Planta: On the Line program, Mario Canseco; Mr. Canseco, good morning.
