Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, British Columbia, at TheCommentary.ca.

Fat Cats is the new novel from the writer George Mercer. This is the fourth in his series, Dyed in the Green. The stories take place in Canada’s National Parks, and this book takes place at British Columbia’s Gulf Islands National Park Reserve. The park warden, John Haffcut sees a cougar that shows up as a chance to deal with the overabundance of deer. I’ll get George to tell us what happens next and as much as he’d like about his book. I’ll also ask George about this series of books, his writing, and more. For more than three decades, George Mercer was a national park warden in Canada throughout the country. Originally from Newfoundland, Mr. Mercer now lives with his family in Saanich where he joins me from today. Visit www.georgemercer.com for more. The book is also available on BC Ferries. Please welcome to the Planta: On the Line program, George Mercer; Mr. Mercer, good morning.
