The artistic director of Action at a Distance and choreographer Vanessa Goodman discusses Wells Hill (24, 25, 26 November 2017), a work that draws on the philosophies of Marshall McLuhan and Glenn Gould, their influence and more, with Joseph Planta.

This weekend, DanceHouse, the SFU Woodward’s Cultural Programs, and the SFU’s School for the Contemporary Arts will be presenting Wells Hill by the emerging local dance company Action at a Distance. It’s the world premiere of this work that draws on the philosophies of Marshall McLuhan and Glenn Gould. These two Canadians changed how we view art and information, and I’ll ask Vanessa Goodman who joins me now to tell us about McLuhan and Gould and how this performance is inspired by them. Ms. Goodman is the choreographer and artistic director of Action at a Distance. She has put together this show that features seven dancers. Action at a Distance is in its second season, and this their second show of the season, and a special Celebrate Canada 150+ event. It’s this Friday and Saturday (24 & 25 November 2017) at 8pm, and Sunday, 26 November 2017 at the Fei and Milton Wong Experimental Theatre at the SFU Gold Corp Centre for the Arts at 149 West Hastings Street.
