Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, at TheCommentary.ca.

Dan O’Brien joins me again. The distinguished playwright has just had a collection of his work published in Great Britain. It’s to be published in the spring of 2018 here in Canada and the United States. The book is called Dan O’Brien: Plays One. It features his five plays: The Body of An American, The House in Hydesville, The Cherry Sisters Revisited, The Voyage of the Carcass, and The Dear Boy. I’ll get Mr. O’Brien to discuss what these plays represent in his body of work, previous productions, the process of playwriting, and the various themes he explores in these five plays. Dan O’Brien is an internationally produced and published playwright and poet. He has received among many awards, a Guggenheim Fellowship, the inaugural Edward M. Kennedy Prize for Drama Inspired by American History, the Horton Foote Prize for Best New American Play, and the PEN Center USA Award for Drama. Visit his website at www.danobrien.org. The Twitter handle is @danobrienwriter. This new collection is published by Oberon Books. Please welcome back to the Planta: On the Line program, in Los Angeles, California, Dan O’Brien; Mr. O’Brien, good morning.
