The veteran television personality Dave Gerry discusses his retirement from reporting at CTV Vancouver, many years elsewhere, storytelling, and more, with Joseph Planta.

Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, at TheCommentary.ca.

Dave Gerry joins me now. The veteran television personality announced his retirement from broadcasting at the end of 2016. We’ll reflect on a storied career, all those human interest stories that made him a household name in this town, first at CKVU and the various iterations that Channel 13 had, and the last two and a half years at CTV Vancouver, where he reported on for their Last Word segment. He was last on this program in 2010. He had been let go from CityTV after hosting their Breakfast Television broadcast and some twenty years at the station. Since then, he went to Toronto to co-host Global’s Morning Show, before returning back to Vancouver and CTV in 2013. In 2015, he received the lifetime achievement award from the Radio Television Digital News Association. His blog, Manic Tapas is at www.davegerry.wordpress.com. I’m very pleased to welcome back to the Planta: On the Line program, in person this time, Dave Gerry; Mr. Gerry, good morning.
