The journalists and broadcasters Andrea Warner and Lisa Christiansen discuss popular culture, feminism and their podcast Pop This!, with Joseph Planta.

Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, at TheCommentary.ca.

The podcast Pop This! is one of my favourite shows. The weekly conversation with Lisa Christiansen and Andrea Warner on popular culture is such a thoughtful, funny, engaging and edifying program that I can’t get enough of it. To the point, where I’ve invited both to this show now. We met Ms. Warner this past fall when she came to discuss her book We Oughta Know: How Four Women Ruled the ‘90s and Changed Canadian Music, and we know of her writing which appears at CBC Music, and various publications like the Georgia Straight. She’s a weekly columnist on the CBC’s afternoon broadcast On the Coast, where we all know Ms. Christiansen from her reports on the traffic desk and various music segments. Their wit and intellect, and very often silliness are such delights to listen to that you really ought to go to the iTunes or Stitcher to listen to them. Their website is at www.popthiscollective.tumblr.com. And they’re both on Twitter: Andrea’s is @_andreawarner, and Lisa’s is at @lisachristCBC. Andrea’s own website is at www.theandreawarner.com. Please welcome to the Planta: On the Line program, in person today, Lisa Christiansen; Good morning, Ms. Christiansen. And welcome back, Andrea Warner; Ms. Warner, good morning.
