Garwin Sanford

The actor and instructor at Langara’s Film Arts department Garwin Sanford received the Sam Payne Award from UBCP/ACTRA, and discusses his career and credits with Joseph Planta, as well as the late Anthony Holland, and many other mentors and peers.

Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, at TheCommentary.ca.

Each year, the Union of British Columbia Performers, an autonomous branch of ACTRA, presents two awards named after the late Canadian theatre, film, radio and television performer, Sam Payne. Last year, the recipients of the awards, Gabrielle Rose and Veena Sood appeared on the program, and what appears to be a tradition this year’s recipients will be joining me. Stephen Miller will be on in the coming days to discuss his receiving the Sam Payne Lifetime Achievement Award, while joining me now is Garwin Sanford, the recipient of the Sam Payne Award, which is given to the performer whose personal characteristics mirror those of Mr. Payne. Garwin Sanford is a Gemini Award nominated actor best known for roles in television programs and films, including Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, Hawkeye, Smallville, MacGyver, and many more. He is an instructor in the Film Arts department at Langara. Please welcome to the Planta: On the Line program, Garwin Sanford; Mr. Sanford, good morning.
